There are many ways to help:

Community Service School Program Volunteer

The House of Lazarus accepts volunteers who are participating in Community Service program required to graduate high school

Thrift Shop Volunteers

The House of Lazarus supports its own Food Bank through its Thrift Shop sales. You can help us by organizing and stocking cupboards and clothes racks.Talk to our clients to see how you can help them find what they are looking for. If we don't have what they need, put it on Special Needs list.

Household Shop Volunteers

The House of Lazarus supports its own Food Bank through its Household Shop sales. You can help us by stocking our shelves and keeping the Shop clean and safe.

Receiving Volunteers

One of the ways the community helps the Food Bank is by dropping off goods we can sell in our Thrift Shop and Household Shop, and food that we can use in our Food Bank. Let's make it an easy and enjoyable experience for them. Be there with a smile to meet and help our donors unload their contributions.

Sorting Volunteers

We receive many goods everyday. Help us sort it.

Special Event Volunteers

The House of Lazarus raises food, money and community awareness through a variety of food drives and special events. We can use your help at activities, which are often held on evenings and weekends. Please contact us for more information about upcoming events.

Administrative Volunteer

Help support the Food Bank by assisting our staff with filing, mailing, data entry, answering phones and clerical duties. Help us to organize events and mail information packages. Help nurture and develop relationships with corporate donors in terms of meeting the current need for food stuff, transportation and expertise. If you're looking to volunteer in this capacity, please contact us to set up an interview.

Transportation Volunteers

We sometimes need volunteers to transport food or goods in their own vehicles to and from our Food Bank and Annex. We also have the odd need for transportation of goods to the local dump.

Green Thumb Volunteers

Come tend our vegetable garden and help us grow vegetables for our Food Bank. Help us maintain the plants and shrubs on our property.

Building Maintenance Volunteers

Are you a handyperson? We can find lots of small tasks for you, from building shelving units to the odd building maintenance job when needed.

Outdoor Maintenance Volunteers

Want an excuse to ride on your lawn mower? We have grass! Got a snowplow you want to put to good use? Come plow our entrance. Do you wash windows?
