Run An Event

Want to help raise awareness about hunger in your community? Why not try running an event of your own?

Here are some events you can initiate at your place of work, worship or study:

  • Sponsor a brown-bag lunch. Ask everyone to donate the cost of a lunch. Or ask people to donate a lunch bag full of nonperishable foods.
  • On birthdays, ask family and friends to make a donation to the Food Bank instead of buying a gift.
  • Place donation jars and food bins near break rooms or cafeterias.
  • Have teams build a pyramid of food.
  • Set up a "thINK FOOD ink-jet/Phones-for-Food" collection site
  • Sponsor a bake sale.
  • Initiate a used book sale.
  • Organize a silent auction.
  • Hold a weekend car-wash.
  • Have the food bank director come and speak to your employees, class, club and/or groups.
